Objectives of IALA
- To develop, promote and foster community spirit, cultural heritage, unity, trust and social values of the Igbos, Nigerians and African Canadian community.
- To promote and support multiculturalism, participate in organized politics and civil affairs, governance, recreation, education, social service, cultural exchange and other community endeavors.
- To establish educational, recreational and supportive programs to promote and elevate the economic wellbeing, health, education and employment for benefit to the Igbo-Canadian Community.
- To cooperate with charitable, not-for-profit organizations and other organizations and individuals involved in community services.
- To advocate, defend, preserve and support the rights and dignity of the Igbo –Canadian community.
- To cooperate and give any possible help to integrate new Igbo immigrants into the Canadian society.
- To establish and operate an Igbo educational and cultural community center; and such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objectives.
- To cooperate with other organizations in matters concerning the development of the Igbo ethnic group and Igbo people
- To disseminate information from and about the people and governments of Igbo nation (or Igbo extraction)
- To engage in social and educational activities that encourage useful engagement of the youths/families and lead to respect of the rule of law and order in Canada.
- To solicit for donations and partnerships to initiate and support development activities and projects in Canada and Igboland
- To support all activities that foster educational, social and economic development and security and safety of lives and property throughout Igboland.
